Public School Supplies Program

Boys Carrying Books at the Inspection in NioroPublic Schools in the Kaolack region of Senegal are underfunded.  Groups of students, often numbering more than 10 must share a single book in primary and secondary school which hampers learning.  The Public School Supplies Program, is an initiative funded by ELEVEate to address this constraint that children in Kaolack face in their attempt to acquire literacy and numeracy.  ELEVEate will purchase school books needed by girls attending public school in the Kaolack region of Senegal.  The books will be on loan to the girls, on an annual basis.  When returned at the end of the academic year, if they are well preserved, the girl will receive a small gift as a gesture of thanks--with the quality of gift rising in accordance with the condition of the book when they return it relative to its condition when loaned to them.  In addition, girls can apply for a small grant to provide them other school supplies, such as pencils and paper that they have been unable to purchase because of limited family resources.
